KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks to expand the world language program at our high school by adding additional Spanish teachers to our team. We seek teachers that are comfortable teaching either Spanish 1, Spanish 2, or a combination of classes for our ninth and tenth grade students. This would lay the foundation of further language instruction. As the school grows, the Spanish teachers would instruct students across multiple grade levels and/or sections, and ideally run a club or enrichment block. We seek a teacher that will be committed to providing quality world language instruction that sets students up for college access and as such, the Spanish teacher would ensure students are both exposed to Spanish and can meet the state’s minimum world language requirements for admission into Florida’s state university system. This position would work closely with the electives department. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
Teachers at the high school work from 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 7:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (12:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development. Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North. OUR CURRENT MODEL The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change. Students in ninth and tenth grade will have a seven period bell schedule. Elective teachers may have a homeroom and will teach several classes in their department in addition to a club or enrichment block. Every student will be required to take two credits of the same world language course.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience.
Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Spanish K-12
At least one complete year of teaching middle school or high school Spanish with experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
