Job Description :
The Associate Director of Housing Services is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of the University’s campus housing resources. The Director of Housing Services has ultimate responsibility for the overall physical condition and readiness of on-campus living areas and the housing assignment process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain a comprehensive housing program for the University.

Coordinate student housing furniture purchasing, delivery, and installation by interfacing with various vendors and suppliers.

Establish and maintain comprehensive living area standards.

Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations related to housing, disability requirements, and trends in the field of higher education.

Establish and implement short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

Provide oversite of student housing use by University departments and guests.

Facilitate the recruitment, training, and supervision of the housing services staff.

Collaborate with University departments to provide quality student housing.

Coordinate the student housing application process.

Coordinate housing inspection, check-in, check-out, and damage assessment processes and procedures.

Develop and maintain a yearly operational budget.

Collaboratively conduct with the Department of Residence Life periodic reviews of housing satisfaction, and implement changes as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise employees and/or student workers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate student employees.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.

DEMANDS
: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Moderate physical activity, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or stand and/or walk for more than four (4) hours per day. WORK

ENVIRONMENT
: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university. Master’s degree and/or one to two year collegiate-level residential experience preferred. Experience and skills in group dynamics and leadership.
