Job Description :
**Close Date: July 25, 2022**

This is routine clerical work. An employee in this class performs clerical duties, which follow prescribed and well-established procedures. Detailed instruction and close supervision are given at the beginning of work and on subsequent new assignments.

However, after the employee becomes familiar with particular procedures, one usually works with relative independence. Work is reviewed regularly for progress or accuracy. Work involving varied tasks is given closer supervision than that which is repetitive in nature. Assignments may involve the operation of standard office equipment.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Assists persons seeking general information by phone or in person; acts as receptionist and customer service representative of the library; assists the public in the use of the library and its resources

Assists persons seeking specific information through reference interview and escorts the individual to the library materials location and/or refers them to another subject matter specialist for further assistance when needed

Assists persons with the general use of computers for searching the Internet, word processing, use of eBooks, electronic resources, and other computer office applications

Operates computers, inventory control devices, and a variety of office equipment pertinent to the position held

Physically sorts, transports, and shelves library materials;

Assists in setting up and putting away tables and chairs for library events.
Assists in observation and safety of library events when needed

Posts information to electronic records; checks information within existing records; maintains routine records; prepares and completes simple reports and forms

Performs related work as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Licenses and Certifications: Any license or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to type at the rate of 35 correct words per minute

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): customer service principles keyboarding techniques modern office procedures, methods, and equipment basic filing and recordkeeping principles English language, grammar, and punctuation using a computer and related software applications providing customer service utilizing modern office equipment maintaining patron data files performing routine mathematical calculations keyboarding communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction handle multiple tasks simultaneously

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

Emergency Management Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
