Job Description

Define and lead Fab Materials/Equipment Sourcing in Advanced Memory Technology Development divisions of all process areas for continued scaling of performance vs cost
The successful candidate will drive all aspects of Fab Materials/Equipment Supply Chain Sourcing engineering for Western Digital’s next generation memory development
Own and ensure contract/legal compliance towards all joint development programs with material and capital equipment vendors based on Technology Development and/or JV (joint venture) needs
Single point of owner in strategizing, defining, and executing a sourcing/procurement roadmap for all fab materials and capital equipment (both CAPEX and OPEX)
Need to partner with multiple BUs to align on organizational deliverables vs priorities to ensure reliable supply and enable fab materials/equipment sourcing accordingly
Effective, while being transparent, working with all fab materials/equipment suppliers based on TD peers needs/asks in establishing a “customer obsessed” mindset/attitude, and thereby, build trusting partnerships with material/equipment suppliers by promoting clear communication channels and setting up milestone based trackable end goals for projects that create win-win outcomes.
Master in negotiating and driving materials/equipment development / evaluations / price / contracts based on TD/JV technical needs/budget
Accountable in developing a strategy and executing for “de-risk” or “end of life” aspects of fab materials/equipment with no impact to TD or pilot line
Own/drive/manage data driven fab materials/equipment selection/management along with baseline spend while securing budget through sourcing and geo waves
Define goals for the suppliers, track and publish supplier performance via scorecards / dashboards


“Can do” and “Positive attitude” with proactive nature is a must.
Possess a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in any engineering or science or supply chain disciplines
A minimum of 4+ years of experience as a first level manager in managing teams with new and experience engineers/technologists, and 2+ years of experience as a second level manager in Technology Development supply chain/sourcing in semiconductor industry
Atleast 15 years of experience in Fab Materials/Equipment Sourcing areas Technology Development and/or Pathfinding divisions of memory and/or logic semiconductor fabrication
Experience in program management leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects under ambiguity and constraints
Accountable for providing and executing a crystal-clear roadmap for Fab Materials/Equipment Sourcing towards MOR
Need to understand integrated processes and basic functions and limitations of equipment in all process areas
Experience in hiring and building a world class Fab Materials/Equipment Procurement/Sourcing team, valuing company’s culture, to meet TD division goals
This role will have a wide span of control with a great degree of visibility, offering a unique opportunity to drive the key Fab Materials/Equipment Sourcing engineering efforts of a novel memory technology having a material market impacts

Preferred Skills:

Direct experience taking a novel technology from concept to high volume manufacturing highly is preferred
Experience working on multi-layer cross-point architectures is preferred
Proven experience building and driving Fab Materials/Equipment Sourcing engineering teams

Compensation & Benefits Details

An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
