ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
PACE was founded in 1976 to provide job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. PACE has since expanded into a variety of service areas, all tailored to meet the growing and changing needs of the multi-ethnic communities in Los Angeles County. Now, in addition to job training and employment services, significant PACE programs encompass: business development; early childhood education (Head Start); financial education and asset building; housing and rehabilitation services; weatherization and energy-conservation programs; and affordable housing development. PACE serves more than 40,000 people each year with our wide scope of services with approximately 300+ staff. PACE is recognized as a leader in addressing problems of poverty and economic inequity in ethnic minority communities and has a reputation of being responsive to community needs and is known for creating innovative solutions to the myriad of challenges faced by our clients.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Marketing and Communications Associate will be part of a dynamic and committed development team working to provide economic development opportunities to Los Angeles’ diverse low-income, ethnic minority and immigrant communities. This position will focus on supporting PACE’s branding and fundraising strategies to increase public awareness of PACE and grow the base of philanthropic support. Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Associate will be responsible for: spearheading and coordinating the agency’s communications and marketing strategy as well as planning and executing special events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Communications (75%): Spearhead and coordinate PACE’s marketing and communications including:

Grow positive awareness of the organization and strengthen its reputation with businesses, funders and the communities it serves
Create and reinforce solid brand identity and messaging
Work with the development team to create overall organizational marketing plan
Drive the agency’s social media messaging and campaigns on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms
Manage member community and online engagement
Track and report search-related activities and provide analyses to executives
Create content for digital media & optimize digital assets, such as text, graphics, or multimedia assets, event flyers, sponsorship decks, etc. for marketing strategies, search engine optimization (SEO) or for display and usability on internet-connected devices
Collect and analyze Web metrics, such as visits, time on site, page views per visit, transaction volume and revenue, traffic mix, click-through rates, conversion rates, cost per acquisition, or cost per click
Maintain organization’s website updates and identify needed improvements
Work with Division Directors to maintain photo and story bank
Design, create and assist with the development of the organization’s Annual Report, quarterly newsletters, and press releases
Develop and maintain media contact list
Other marketing and communications projects, as assigned/needed
In accordance with Federal grant regulations for advertising and public relations activities (§200.421), assist with:

Procurement of goods and services for the performance of a Federal award

Program outreach and other specific purposes necessary to meet the requirements of the Federal award
Communicating with the public and press pertaining to specific activities or accomplishments which result from performance of the Federal award

Event Planning and Fundraising (25%)

Develop, coordinate and execute annual and special events to generate funds, attendance, volunteers, and/or clients for the organization
Coordinate branding and promotion for joint events with our partner agencies
Conduct post-event appraisals to determine success and/or necessary improvements
Prepare and send donor acknowledgements, as needed
Maintain donor and participant databases, as needed
Other events and fundraising projects, as needs arise

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or other related field.
3-5 years experience in marketing, communications and/or development.
Outstanding design, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Must be organized, highly attentive to detail and have excellent organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with website management, analytics, design, editing and data tools including: WordPress (HTML, PHP, etc), Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.
Positive, energetic, creative thinker with a passion for giving back to the LA community.
Multicultural and multilingual background in working with the Asian Pacific Islander community is strongly preferred.
Must pass a pre-employment physical examination including drug and alcohol screening.
Must have a valid California Drivers License, adequate automobile insurance coverage and an automobile in working condition; local travel may be required.
