The Pastoral Care & Chapel Production Coordinator provides coordination for the pastoral care work of the Spiritual Life Office and support for chapel productions. This person works in partnership with the Spiritual Life team in implementing and maintaining structures and systems for both pastoral care and chapel programming logistics.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferred area of study in Theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Education, Youth Ministries, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent
Master’s degree (preferred) in Theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Education, Youth Ministries, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent
Licensed or ordained minister with denominational support and accountability (or commitment to obtain)
1-3 years of pastoral counseling and worship service planning in campus ministries or church ministry
Possesses experience in organizational leadership at an institution or church where strategic thinking was used and implemented to care for a large group of people
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Coordinates systems of pastoral care for APU students on behalf of the Spiritual Life team, including managing referrals, facilitating the connection of students seeking pastoral care to an appropriate campus pastor, and working with Student Affairs and Care Team partners to provide a pastoral component to the care of students of concern.
Maintains appropriate calendar time for pastoral counseling/care to APU students.
This person is able to offer pastoral confidentiality to students in spiritual care.
Coordinates pastoral response to crisis according to Spiritual Life department and Care Team protocols, under the supervision and collaboration with the Director and Dean.
May supervise graduate pastoral interns in pastoral care rotation which includes training, supporting, and debriefing graduate interns in their pastoral care development.
Represents the Spiritual Life department on the Care Team, providing a point of contact for the spiritual care needs of students as identified by the Care Team.
Assists in the managing of program workflow and production of chapels, including working with Events for venue reservations, Media Services, Campus Safety and other partners that assist in the production of chapels.
Collaborates with Associate Director of Spiritual Life Operations and Operations & Finance Coordinator for financial and logistical chapel support.
Supervises the Undergraduate Chapel Intern, overseeing communication with speakers to coordinate logistics including travel, honorarium components (in collaboration with other staff), and written speaker agreements.
Give creative input on chapel calendar, themes, programming and technical needs.
Provides support for chapels and is present in the majority of morning chapel services through pastoral presence, prayer with students, administering communion, etc.
Occasional support for other spiritual life programming events as assigned.
Serve in a collateral assignment within Student Affairs.
Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
Ability to use the computer with Windows and Microsoft products to complete tasks.
Excellent organizational, managerial, problem solving, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to balance a variety of tasks and demands.
Knowledge of procedures and theory in the field of spiritual care and pastoral counseling.
Leadership, initiative, and administrative ability.
Ability to encourage a range of spiritual and intellectual styles and develop leaders to minister to APU students.
Ability to work under pressure, exuding a mature demeanor while multi-tasking in a deadline oriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as an independent contributor.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.
Self-starter with a positive attitude.

Able to conduct business at other offices on campus.
Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.

Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
Grade 8: $21.44-$27.87/hourly
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
