To complement our complex algorithms and extensive data analyses, we create elevated and inspirational mobile and web features across the entire communication experience. As a Product Manager in this role, you’ll play a key part designing experiences and systems that present the right features and skills to customers at the right time, making Alexa even more useful and easy to use.

Key job responsibilities
The Alexa Discovery team’s Product Manager will lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative approaches to educating customers about how they can do more with Alexa. We leverage voice usage data to drive Alexa customer engagement and directly influence feature development efforts. You’ll work with a team of talented PMs, designers, developers and scientists. Responsibilities will span all of the following areas:

Designing and delivering experiences that pioneer new ways to teach customers and help customers discover Alexa’s features and skills

Developing impactful approaches to user segmentation

Developing mechanisms that programmatically identify, target and deliver feature recommendations to Alexa customers via a variety of channels

Analyzing voice usage, mobile app and screen-based-device data to identify points of high potential leverage on a customer’s journey with Alexa

Working with engineers to deploy machine learning models as services within the Alexa ecosystem

Working with Scientists and Software Engineers to improve experimentation infrastructure for voice interactions and Alexa features

Diving deep, reporting and improving metrics and performance of customer-facing features and capabilities that drive discovery and engagement

A day in the life
You will work with design, development and science teams on end-to-end customer experiences that are purpose-built to drive Discovery of Alexa’s capabilities, skills and content. You’ll propose, design, scope, test, launch and iterate on a variety of features and programs. You will be responsible for the roadmap, metrics and improvements over time.

The Alexa Discovery team manages Alexa-wide systems and experiences that drive engagement and make Alexa a useful part of customers everyday lives. We are a team of technical Product Managers, developers, scientists, designers and researchers working together to solve tough problems at scale. Our products reach customers globally, and our products are experienced by millions of customers and measured in the billions of interactions. As a PM on the team, you will work cross-functionally, drive and own critical customer-facing and internal team-available systems and features that have meaningful impact on how customers use Alexa.

MBA or master’s degree
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making
Proven ability to understand complex business problems, apply strong analytical skill and create an effective strategy
Technical fluency; ability to understand and discuss architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work across functions and influence senior leaders
Demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision
Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly software applications and customer-facing features
Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; ability to respond rapidly to evolving threats and opportunities
Demonstrated ability to translate strategic differentiators into innovative and detailed product requirements
Proven ability to make smart features (customer experience) versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and assertions of business value
