Job Description :


The Biology Department is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and technically skilled researcher with expertise in the field of immunology who wishes to play a key role in advancing novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic. Scientists at Arcus work in a highly embedded and collaborative model with colleagues across the organization.


The successful applicant will be expected to provide in-depth knowledge, technical expertise, and insights as it relates to Arcus drug development programs. These qualities will be utilized routinely to devise and implement a variety of relevant
in vivo and
in vitro model systems. These models will be used to build an in-depth understanding and biological datasets surrounding Arcus drug targets and drug candidates. Scientists will contribute both intellectually and experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, routinely collating and presenting data in both internal and external forums.


PhD in immunology or a closely related field (postdoctoral training is a plus)
Intellectual and experimental proficiency in various aspects of immunology gained through demonstrated research experience. Ideally this proficiency would include:

Practical experience using in vivo inflammation, autoimmune, or tumor models
Isolation and culture of primary immune cells from blood or tissue (mouse and human)
Expertise related to common immunological assays, including multi-color flow cytometry, and implementation of methods to assess immune cell activity

Competency in molecular biology techniques, such as ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, real-time PCR, western blot, and transfection methods

Ability to design, conduct, and interpret critical experiments that identify novel target biology and advance drug discovery efforts
Familiarity with current literature in inflammation/immuno-oncology and associated therapies

A clear track record of productivity as evidenced by consistent publication/presentation record
Ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives
Comfort with rapidly shifting goals as well as organizational changes and evolution
